Hamas must somehow be brought into the Middle East peace process because the policy of isolating Gaza in the quest for a settlement will not work, Tony Blair has told The Times.
Blair implicitly criticises the strategy by the Bush Administration and Israel of focusing all peace and reconstruction efforts on the West Bank. “It was half of what we needed,” he said.

Netanyahu behoudt leiding in peiling na operatie in Gaza
Binyamin Netanyahu, the leader of the Likud party, has maintained a lead in advance of the 10 February election that is several points clear of his main rivals, both of whom have been directly involved in the Gaza campaign.
The Guardian reports: “A poll published in the Maariv daily yesterday gave Netanyahu 28 seats in Israel's 120-seat parliament, five more than his closest rival Tzipi Livni, the foreign minister and leader of the centrist Kadima party. Ehud Barak, the Labour defence minister, trails in third.”

Doctors Spooked by Israel's Mystery Weapon (January 28, 2009)
Critics continue to press the case that Israel committed "war crimes". Many of these wounds of casualties may have been caused by a weapon which is designed to reduce collateral damage. Not that the Israelis admit they have the thing.
Fosse says that the weapon "causes the tissue to be torn from the flesh. It looks very different [from a shrapnel injury]. I have seen and treated a lot of different injuries for the last 30 years in different war zones, and this looks completely different."
According to Fosse and Gilbert, the weapon typically amputates or tears apart lower limbs and patients often do not survive. "It's no more illegal than normal blast-and-shrapnel weapons, but it is a mystery," according to the doctors.
A version of the GBU-40 Small Diameter Bomb is the only known focused-lethality munition. Ares speculated that the IDF is using weapons supplied by the U.S. Air Force; a spokesman told the site that "we cannot release sensitive information on foreign military sales."

“Obama and Israel’s plan for ethnic cleansing”
The transfer and annihilation of Arabs in Palestine has been the continuing policy of Zionist Jews since the late 1800’s. And in very recent days with Israel’s invasion of Gaza, the Israeli policy of “ethnic cleansing” has been displayed to the entire world in all of its horrific manifestations.
Obama recentky reiterated in an interview with the Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya TV network on January 26, 2009: The commitment of the US to Israel as an ally and to its right to defend itself.”
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated in her first news conference on January 27, 2009, that “America supports Israel’s right to self-defense.” She added that “the rocket barrages which are getting closer and closer to populated areas in Israel cannot go unanswered.”

A volley of rockets has been fired into southern Israel from Gaza, hours after a unilateral Israeli ceasefire began.
At least four out of six rockets landed near the town of Sderot, with no reports of injuries. Israel launched an air strike on Gaza in response. The exchange puts an immediate strain on the ceasefire, which followed three weeks of fighting.

About 1,600 civilians had sought refuge from the fighting inside the building, Gunness said.
“The Israeli army knew exactly our GPS co-ordinates and they would have known that hundreds of people had taken shelter there,” he said.
“When you have a direct hit into the third floor of a UN school, there has to be an investigation to see if a war crime has been committed.”

“Kind gebruikt als schietschijf door Israëlische militairen”
"Dad, I'm Dying" (Jan 15, 2009)

(Jan 14, 2009)
Paul Findley: America complicit in Israel’s military assault on Palestinians
In the U.N. Security Council, only the United States opposed a call for an immediate ceasefire. Without America’s unconditional military and political support, Israel could never carry out the destruction of Gaza or its humiliation of Palestinians in the West Bank and other war crimes.
America’s indifference to the plight of Gazans makes me wonder if our citizens have lost all capacity for moral outrage.
If you wish to find out who is really responsible for Israel’s scofflaw behavior and war crimes, look in the mirror. Citizens like you and me let lobbyists for a small, ruthless government make America its servant.
Oproep om deze waanzin te stoppen Enough!
Someone Must Stop Israel's Rampant Madness in Gaza, By: Gideon Levy; Haaretz Correspondent
This is how Israel now looks to the outside world - its tanks in the burning streets of Gaza; more and more people being killed for nothing; tens of thousands of new refugees; an appallingly haughty foreign minister, and a growing clamor of condemnation and disgust from all over the globe.
All those who supported this war and all those who objected to it should unite in the cry, Enough.

(Jan 15, 2009) Killed by Israel, Eaten by Dogs

BBC argues with Israeli Spokesman over UN School Bombing
